Day 1: Restaurant Review: Malis

 MALIS

By Dag, Alve, and Harald

Malis is a restaurant in Phnom Penh with Cambodian cuisine. It has a very nice environment, it has a small pond with fish and fountains and there are a lot of plants giving off a nice vibe. The staff are very kind and helpful, making us feel comfortable. The food is presented very neatly and looks yummy yummy in my tummy. The food came quickly and felt fresh. We got the bay sach moan, bay sach churk ang and an omelette. All of them were amazing. Although we felt like the bay sach churk ang had a little bit of a small portion so we would like for them to have a bigger portion but otherwise it was great! We would  highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Khmer food giving this place 4.5 out of 5 star rating. The toilets are also very clean unlike some other establishments we have been to (Mcdonalds). In conclusion, Malis is a great place to have breakfast and food in general and also good for children.

Malis restaurant review

Our experience at Malis restaurant was very awesome. It had lots of traditional Cambodian cuisine and the environment was enjoyable and clean. The Malis restaurant has a pond with fish that visitors are allowed to feed, the staff are very friendly and polite and the food was served in a timely manner. The atmosphere felt very calm. First we had eggs where the presentation was exquisite and we also ordered the pork with rice dish which was neatly presented. Both of these dishes tasted exotic in a good way. My rating out of 5 for this restaurant would be 4.5 as I would go back there again, I recommend this restaurant to people who want to try a modern take on Cambodian cuisine.

Malis restaurant review

By Niamh

As soon as I walked into this restaurant I felt very calm. It has a nice atmosphere and very beautiful surroundings. They have a lot of decorations like plants and fish which I think is a very nice touch. The plate was very clean and overall just very aesthetically pleasing. The customer service is great. They are very kind and respectful and serve quite fast. Malis serves a lot of traditional Khmer dishes. Depending on the dish, the preparation time can vary. I ordered the “Bay Sach Kor - fried beef and rice.” It came pretty fast. The presentation was lovely. It was very organised and looked very pretty. I have to say though, for the decoration on the plate every restaurant i have been to adds sliced cucumbers and carrots and some other vegetables. I think that there could be just a bit more originality or variants in vegetables because I do not like them. I think they are too basic and that they could have added different ones. The main focus was rice and beef. I think the ratio of those 2 main components was a bit unbalanced. There was a towering amount of rice and a questionable amount of beef. I grew quite tired of all that rice. I had quickly finished the beef and there was still a lof of rice left. It was quite boring and I think they should have cut the portion a little bit. The taste on the other hand was delicious. They did a really good job cooking the beef. It was very juicy and tasted amazing. So overall i give this dish a 8/10. The restaurant I rate at about a 9.5/10. 5 stars, I would recommend this to other people.
